Andrew grew up in the Chicago suburb of Montgomery, Illinois and attended Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. Here, he received a B.S. in Political Science and a B.S. in Communication Studies as well as his Masters of Communication. During this time, he had the opportunity to work as a graduate instructor for the School of Communication, educating students on public speaking as well as public relations.
A former educator turned cannabis advocate, Andrew is the founder and owner of Deal Sloth; an online retail company specializing in the supply of quality tobacco and herbal supplies and accessories. In the summer of 2013, Andrew moved from Illinois to Houston where he welcomed the opportunity to serve as Communications Director for NORML’s (National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws) Houston chapter. Upon his return to Illinois, he sought career opportunities which would further his knowledge and passion for cannabis and the cannabis industry.
Andrew joins the Bloom Medicinals family with the ambition of educating patients about the various medicinal, economical, and social benefits of cannabis as well as providing unmatched, top-notch patient care.
With 21 years in the healthcare field, Nicole van Rensburg brings her expertise in physician education, quality assurance, and patient interactions to Bloom Medicinals. Her family businesses provide mobile neurological, ultrasound, allergy, and asthma testing in 28 states throughout the country. Over the years, these businesses have diagnosed tens of thousands of patients with many of the conditions that qualify for medical cannabis. Nicole draws upon her strong interest in the medicinal properties of the plant to procure top-quality cannabis products tailored for patients’ specific ailments.
Nicole works closely with her brother, Will, to ensure the dispensary provides for a positive and memorable patient experience. Nicole holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Emory University and is pursuing a Master in Business Administration at Northwestern University. Nicole’s hobbies include ballet, reading, and babysitting her niece and nephew.
William is a Maryland native who earned his Bachelor of Applied Sciences degree from Wayland Baptist University in Anchorage Alaska. He is a veteran of the United States Army where he served seven years, including time spent as an Alcohol and Substance Abuse Coordinator for the Army. Having completed three combat tours in Afghanistan, William’s experiences gives him a firsthand understanding of the benefits of medical marijuana for veterans, as he himself has suffered from PTSD anxiety and depression in the past. William likes to keep himself at the forefront of medical cannabis science so he can help veterans and others diagnosed with qualifying medical conditions in choosing suitable medical cannabis options. William enjoys working out at the gym and training others and is an advocate for integrating exercise as part of a patient’s overall wellness program.
Dennis is a Maryland native and healthcare professional with experience working with patients who have been diagnosed with qualifying medical conditions. His experience has included pediatrics, hematology, oncology, internal medicine and behavioral health. Recognizing the health benefits that medical cannabis offers, Dennis became a cannabis counselor in 2016 and utilizes his training and experience supporting patient education on the medical benefits of cannabis and the Maryland Medical Cannabis Program. He is an avid comic book reader and loves going to music concerts. In his free time, if he’s not lifting weights, he will be playing football, lacrosse, and coaching soccer.
Stephanie is a Maryland native and mother of three. After spending 25 years in the marketing and communications field, she found her true calling in 2014 when medical cannabis became an effective substitute medication for her ineffective pharmaceuticals. Since then, she has been an activist for legalization in Maryland and Washington, D.C. Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Studies from The University of Maryland and is bringing her expertise to Bloom Medicinals to help provide patients with up-to-date information on the many benefits of cannabis, safe and affordable access, as well as compassionate patient care. In her free time, Stephanie is a painter and writer.
Beth is a Virginia native who could not resist the allure of Maryland and has lived here for the last 12 years. Diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome as a teenager, she tried many methods to soothe her symptoms but nothing worked until she found cannabis years later. Once she realized it had the ability to alleviate her pain, nausea, and migraines, Beth became an instantaneous cannabis advocate. After earning her Bachelor’s of Arts from Sarah Lawrence College, Beth tried on a number of different hats in areas such as retail, Special Education, and project management, until she found a way to merge those disciplines by providing medicine, service and an open ear to any patient who drops by Bloom Medicinals. Movie fiend, pho aficionado (ph’icionado?) and dog parent to a perfect creature named Teen Wolf.
Vickey grew up in Aberdeen, Maryland and graduated from Vet Tech Institute in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she earned an Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology and became a Registered Veterinary Technician, specializing in canine orthopedics. In 2017 she returned to Maryland where she became a medical cannabis advocate after being told by her pain management physician that it had no medical use and refused to recommend it as a treatment option for her qualifying medical condition, continuing to prescribe opioids and other medications.
Vickey enjoys supporting and educating patients on the benefits of medical cannabis and the options available to them. A car enthusiast and animal lover, Vickey is a dog mom to a French Bulldog and a special needs English Bulldog, who receives CBD oil to help reduce focal facial tremors and neuropathy.
